SVGS Theatre Department Goes All In With  Lucky Stiff, Jan. 18-21 at ShenanArts

Featuring diamonds, disguises, and a dead body, Lucky Stiff is sure to keep the audience in stitches with its cast of quirky characters. The Shenandoah Valley Governor’s School, in association with ShenanArts, is proud to present this hilarious, high-energy farce.

Nothing ever happens to shy shoe salesman Harry Witherspoon. Nothing, that is, until a six million dollar inheritance comes his way — with strings attached. Harry must take the body of his dead uncle on a dream vacation to Monte Carlo, or else forfeit the fortune to charity. Annabel Glick, a tenacious representative of the Universal Dog Home of Brooklyn, is right on his heels, ready to pounce if he makes a mistake, and she isn’t the only one after the money. Can Harry spend a week cruising around casinos with a corpse and not get caught? From the writing team of Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty, who also created Seussical and Once On This Island, Lucky Stiff features such musical numbers as “Something Funny’s Going On,” “Times Like This,” “Speaking French,” and “Good to Be Alive.”

The show will run January 18-21 at ShenanArts. Performance times are as follows:  Jan. 18-20 at 7:00 p.m. and Jan. 21 at 3:00 p.m. Tickets are $10 for students under 18, $12 for senior citizens and college students, and $15 for adults. The performance is recommended for ages 12 and up due to mild adult themes and language. For tickets, please visit www.ShenanArts.org.

Directed by Cassy Whitacre, Lucky Stiff features Charles Showalter as wallflower Harry Witherspoon, Mia Kyler as his dogged rival Annabel Glick, Mary Margaret Elam as the nearsighted Rita La Porta, Sam Heller as her frantic brother Vinnie, Trinity Obaugh as the sultry Dominique du Monaco, Jake Morris as the enigmatic Luigi Gaudi, and Carson Lunger as the Body of Tony Hendon. The cast also includes Chloe Breeding, Catharine DeGolyer, Madison DeGolyer, Taeghan Duncan, Kyle Fainter, Margot Flanders, Jenna Henline, Shyanne Hensley, Kereil Kindle, Hanna Kivlighan, Brittany Minter, Augusta Nafziger, Maegan Parry, Michael Reefe, Marin Rehfield, Alexandria Rush, Mattie Tindall, and Benjamin White.
