SVGS Presentation for Juniors and Parents – College Admission 1/26 @ 6:30 pm

The entire college admissions process can be overwhelming.  SVGS provides an opportunity for students and parents to receive additional support  by making college counseling  resources available.  We are extremely fortunate to have Mr. Russ Ingersoll.  Mr. Ingersoll retired from Fishburne with over 30 years of experience in student counseling and has been working as a college counselor in the area since 2011.  Mr. Ingersoll will be at SVGS on the dates listed below.

January 26, 2015 – JUNIOR PARENT MEETING for Presentation: “The College Admissions Process” @ 6:30 p.m.

(SNOW DATE for JUNIOR Parent meeting is February 2.)

If students and/or your parents would like to meet with Mr. Ingersoll, please contact Mrs. Conner and sign-up as soon as possible.   Appointments are scheduled for 20 minutes beginning at 8:00 am until 11:00 am.

For each appointment, you need to:

be on time

– bring the following items with you to the meeting

                                * unofficial copy of your transcript

                                * copy of your test scores

                                * personal resume

-be prepared with questions

In addition, BRCC will be offering an SAT prep class in the spring to prepare for the May SAT.  Please see information below:

SAT I Prep

There’s a lot riding on your SAT scores.  This course will prepare you to deal successfully with exam topics ranging from writing to critical reading and math.  Learn about short passages, long passages, and paired passages that test reading comprehension, as well as higher level math questions (geometric notation, basic trigonometry, and new statistics concepts), and the required essay.  Bring pencils, notebook, and a scientific/graphing calculator.  Required text, The Official SAT Study Guide.
